It's still arguably the best Italian restaurant in town and will cost you dearly for that privilege - but recent critics say the cracks are starting to show in Bombana's Michelin acclaimed world.

Chef Bombana's famed handmade pastas live up to the hype; the burrata cheese ravioli in black-olive and eggplant sauce being particularly stellar.

The menu at the restaurant features many of Bombana's signature creations, like lobster and mozzarella Salad in Caviar dressing, pumpkin ravioli, crispy pear tart and many white truffle anointed dishes.

I know it’s also lame to eat at an upscale restaurant and say “I need to grab a cheeseburger after this,” but this time it was for real. I was hungry after paying nearly $400 for the prix fixe lunch.

Overall, we think Bombana will continue the legacy for fine Italian cooking in Hong Kong; his fans will not be left disappointed. But is it his best work to date? A few tweaks here and there and it could be a masterpiece.

Meanwhile, the five-course degustation (available at lunch and dinner) is HK$1,380, which makes it one of those rare places where we actually think going for an indulgent dinner makes more economic sense.

Considering the well-executed dishes, premium ingredients and welcoming atmosphere in the heart of Central, Otto e Mezzo offers very good value for money.

If you weren't ready to buy into the hype before we're telling you now this is the real deal.

Set within the upscale Landmark shopping mall in the center of Hong Kong, the 55-seat capacity restaurant brings glamour and sophistication to Hong Kong's upscale dining scene.

Of course it doesn't come cheap, but it does come with a stunning view of bustling Chater Road, plus a bar and lounge area.

Each dish is crafted with fresh quality ingredients and a celebration of Italian cooking – and Michelin agrees, having now awarded this joint the coveted three stars. We’ve heard great things about the drinks here too.

Overall, food at 8 1/2 Otto e Mezzo was excellent. I hate to say that if you want great Italian cuisine, it seems like you have to go the expensive route and go to these well-known establishments in Hong Kong.

A wildly divine culinary treat, this restaurant is not only a celebration of the heartiest Italian cuisine but also of art, culture and life's pleasures.

It still has some kinks in the dining experience, but the food is divine.

You will have to book ahead and it doesn't come cheap, but Otto is definitely worth the wait and the dough if you want high-end Italian-inflected hearty.

I am very happy I tried the short rib and beef tenderloin, as this was definitely one of the best dishes of the night. The rib was slow-cooked and incredibly tender to the touch, while the pan-fried tenderloin was packed full of flavour and also wonderfully tender.

Given all the awards and superlatives Otto e Mezzo has won, they can’t blame me for having high expectations. But the restaurant falls far short of what a three Michelin star restaurant should be.

Just a little ditty about the food- the Roast Duck Foie Gras with Piedmont Hazelnut Sauce was sensational.

You are stepping inside one of the best Italian restaurants in HK operated by Chef Bombana, and not only that, it is the world's only ever Michelin 3 Stars Italian restaurant situated outside of Italy.

Call me stubborn or deprived.   I have always liked the food here and it’s great execution,  and what more can a foodie ask for?   But Michelin 3*?    Even NOMA was and is only Michelin 2* when I visited.

I can see why this place is full all the time, simple great food made luxurious with quality produce.

It was a wonderful meal at Otto, the pasta was relatively simple but tasty, my beef short rib and tenderloin was awesomely good and service precise!

And so it was at 8 1/2 (2 Michelin stars) which is a shame as the food was rather good. Unfortunately, it was plated on a backdrop of ignorance about the menu and the ingredients, an atmosphere of panic which meant waiters ran everywhere and achieved nothing and long interminable waits for dishes.

Overall, if you ask me if the truffle was worth it, I would say as a once-in-a-lifetime experience, yes. S ate truffle for the first time here, and was a bit disappointed that the taste of the truffles wasn't as intense as its pungent fragrance. Well, I think eating truffle is not so much about eating it. It's more about the experience that it comes with.

Overall, a great place to dine and enjoy the freshest which Mr. Bombana sources from around the world.

The lunch set is $360 for a starter and a main. It's not the most affordable lunch on the block but hey, for a 3-star lunch, it's a bargain!

Juicy, plump lobster, with such a fresh tender piece of sea urchin. The seafood soup is delicious, decadent and rich. I loved the creamy, full flavour and texture from the cavatelli pasta! Perfect filling lunch.

Be it the delicate white truffle dishes which this restaurant has been famous for, or simpler ones such as the pumpkin risotto with braised pork cheek that we had this time, this restaurant always delivered food of top notch quality and true to the tradition.

After our main courses, we decided that we were not going to wait another 30 minutes for our dessert so we went for the bill instead.

Food was great.  Very pricey though.  Can't help but missed the wonderful food we had in Europe.  But this is HK, got to pay rent. Nevertheless, a great experience.

The main course, Braised Veal Cheek and Veal Fillet on porcini mushroom and barley risotto was amazing. The veal cheek was so tender and soft, it just melted in our mouths. And the barley risotto was very nice, no rice but replaced with just barley. A nice twist that worked well.

Seafood is where chef Bombana shone the lobster was bedded on eggplant parmigiana, parsley, green peppers, and yummily creamy uni. So fresh, briny luuuuuuuuuurvely. Food envy? Hells YES.

The tagliatelle (pronounced as talya-tel-lay) in Bombana was quite thin. It was made with a high portion of egg yolk for sure, but since it was thinly sliced, it felt less filling.

The service wasn’t great as well. Depending on who serve you, the dishes were not well explained in some cases unlike Caprice. I feel the service except for some, was a bit amateurish. My table was not cleaned after each course, I though this is expected of 3 stars.

Many of the menu items are smart choices that are more creative than classic and perfectly executed. However, it is held back by some overly simplistic menu item choices and what appears to be limited menu evolution.

I was, however, a bit disappointed with the service quality from the rest of the waitstaff, which couldn’t be compared to what we experienced at Caprice even though both restaurants are awarded with Three Michelin Stars.
