ABC is arguably the classic Hong Kong experience: the old colonial M at the Fringe menu served up in a cooked food centre, at very affordable prices - there's no place quite like it.

Despite being sandwiched between a curry stall and Chiu Chow dumpling joint, ABC's owners remain loyal to their classic, European training (the manager and chef both hail from Hong Kong's once-iconic M at the Fringe restaurant), serving dishes such as roasted suckling pig and handcrafted pizzas.

Cons: the desserts. Sticky toffee pudding (HK$42) was too firm, not sticky enough and cold in the centre.

ABC Kitchen, which stands for 'A Better Cooking,' deserves plaudits for its gumption of copycatting a memorable menu, and delivering it with a lot of heart.

The pig is a very savory dish, and I advise ordering it as your last item.

This secret spot is for the pork lovers out there - the suckling pig at ABC Kitchen is absolutely amazing, so be sure to give this place a try!

Generally speaking, ABC Kitchen is an excellent venue for a special dining experience. It has a unique indoor dai pai dong ambience, warm service and quality gourmet food at affordable prices.

It was all very well executed, though I can't help thinking that the dishes have been made much lighter and subtler for Cantonese palates (and perhaps health-conscious office workers).

The atmosphere at ABC is fantastic, and this all boils down to its location, as you just can't replicate the energy and excitement you'll find in a cooked food market.

Our lamb, beef and pork all done with loving skill. It's nothing to write home about but it's simple, wholesome and delicious with fair price tags.

The service was as good as you can expect from a wet market, and the ambience, casual and loud (we were probably the loudest table) and quite reasonable for the amount of food we ate.

Roasted Suckling Pig - a good balance of meat, fatty layers and golden crisp skin. yum!

All in all, ABC Kitchen wasn't what I imagined it would be like. I was rather disappointed with the quality of food served.

The prices are ridiculously reasonable and bearing in mind the lion’s share of our table had 3 courses, a shot or two of something fruity as well as coffees, you’ll agree then that 350HKD a head is nothing shy of fabulous value.

I wouldn't say it's a classic European experience, but definitely serving up delicious food, utilizing the fresh produce this city can provide.

Crackling golden crispy skin...with mostly tender, tasty and juicy meat, especially the fatty bits. However, there were still some dry and tough parts...I guess that's the risk of ordering the whole pig, you don't only get the best bits.

As the whole meal came to $220 per head (plus a good tip and a round of beers it's BYO wine, BTW), we couldn't have been happier with our quirky dinner at ABC.

The food was pretty good and was relatively cheap @ 100 hkd per person!
