A sit-down burger restaurant at fast-food prices, this place definitely wins points for affordability - but whether you'll enjoy the burgers is all up to how you like them, with a definite smoky flavour here.

Of the three burgers we tasted, we liked the lamb (HK$95) and falafel (HK$78) much better than the beef, which, even with bacon and cheese (HK$108), was under-seasoned.

The burgers at Beef & Liberty are top notch and when this new joint irons out the creases, we look forward to spending some free time gorging here – especially when we’re looking for healthier offerings.

A meal for two with drinks and service comes to around HK$400 – not the most expensive given the quality of the ingredients and the interesting drinks, but we’ll wait for the kinks to be ironed out before returning.

The smell of smoke and charcoal permeates. A black pepper burger is full—but not too full—of a spicy kick. Sweet potato fries are crisp, flavorful and easy to finish, but the actual fries are a real letdown: they’re too thick and ended up starchy, not crunchy.

Beef & Liberty brings a decent selection of burgers to the table, with special attention brought to the beef patty itself.

Ok, so this isn’t the best burger we’ve had (and our American friends agree) but this is a pretty good burger by Hong Kong standards. I loved how juicy and tender the burger patties are, and you really can’t go wrong by adding cheese and bacon on top.

Keep it classic, or pimp your patty with cheese, black pepper, bacon or green chilli, and if beef’s not your bag, there’s also lamb, chicken or falafel. In short, these are banging burgers!

Does Beef & Liberty serve Hong Kong’s best burger? Probably not at the moment. But whilst I continue my search, I’m happy to keep trying their burgers (and cookies, for good measure) just in case!

The burger bun was a beauty with a glossy sheen, but fell apart too easily.  Perhaps the softer bread is adapted more towards Asian tastes?

The onion rings were a highlight because they used the same batter formula as at Alfie’s by Kee - which is one of the best fish & chips in HK

I have to say, Beef & Liberty knows how to werk it’s beef and their burgers are legit – smoky, juicy, flavorful and everything a burger should be. This spot has definitely won me over and has become my go-to burger place.

Possibly my favourite place for burger thus far. Where is your favourite burger place?

Food itself is cheap. But somehow we were still hungry. I’m still hunting for my burger joint in Hong Kong! I’ll probably be back though! If you haven’t gone. You should go try.

The beef was perfectly cooked at medium-rare, and a healthy splash of spice coming through the green chili and jalapeno was a fiery yet refreshing complement.

The service at Beef & Liberty was good enough for Hong Kong standards, and the prices were reasonable. The beef burger we ordered was the best one I have had in Hong Kong recently - it seems like this new kid on the block is a worthy rookie!

I thought the burger was not nearly as good as the ones at Triple O or The Chop House but the sweet potato fries and vanilla shake were both excellent.

With the mint yogurt sauce, the burger tasted very much like kebab lamb which you can easily imagine how flavourful that is!

Plenty of burger spots are popping up all over HK, and Beef & Liberty is one of our absolute favourites.

This was as good a burger as I can ever recall having in a HK restaurant. Charred and carmelized on the outside and tender and juicy inside. Seasoning seems to have been limited to just salt and pepper, which is how it should be.

Beef & Liberty, newly opened in Hong Kong, has a nice set up; and I very much enjoyed one of their spiked milkshakes… unfortunately, probably more than the burger.

I'm sure I will be back again, their food is generous and prepared well, I'll just make sure to steer away from anything with pepper. The overall bill was HKD 477.00 for 2 people which wasn't so bad considering I left the restaurant with a 2 month food baby.

Overall, the food at Beef & Liberty was excellent while the ambiance was perfect for a casual night out. Prices are reasonable especially if you get the All Day Sets with burger, fries/salad, and drink for $125-$135 which is available on weekdays.

The meat is typically lean and high in omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin E and it didn’t taste greasy at all.  The burgers come with a cute small pick to indicate the level the meat is cooked to.
